Martha, 55, was referred for life coaching by her physician because of increased blood pressure and mild depression. During her doctor's exam she expressed concerns about her life. She felt 'stuck', worried about finances, and was overwhelmed with caring for her aging mother. Though she had tried to establish the regular exercise program prescribed by her provider she was having difficulties maintaining it due to work and family demands.
After coaching Martha for two months she reported she felt less depressed and more optimistic about life. She was exploring other job opportunities. Her interest in pursuing long-abandoned hobbies was re-kindled and she had adjusted her schedule to allow for more consistent walking. Her blood pressure showed marked improvement.
Weight Loss, Decreased Stress and Anxiety, Improved Health
Life coaching was recommended to Bill, 58, after a physical exam revealed continued weight gain and general anxiety. He reported he was experiencing occasional heart palpitations and insomnia. He shared that he felt extreme stress and worry due to recent downsizing at work, and he and his wife were going through marriage counseling. While it had been suggested at his last exam that he see a nutritionist and begin exercising, he had not followed through.
My initial conversations with Bill indicated that his complete focus on work over the years had resulted in a distant, strained relationship with his wife, a lack of friendships, an absence of any outside interests or hobbies, and no exercise. Together we identified achievable goals for improving his health based on his provider's recommendations. He started swimming, joined a gym and began a fitness program with the help of a personal trainer. He met with the nutritionist and was following a dietary plan. Three months into the coaching he and his wife were talking and enjoying each other more. he had begun volunteering in the community and was expanding his circle of friends. His follow-up doctor's visit showed good weight loss and greater overall well-being.

Coaching with Megan is done in person or by telephone.

The first session is complimentary, and the purpose is for Megan to get to know you and understand your needs and goals, and to see if coaching makes sense for you. The "fit" between a coach and client is very, very important because of the amount of mutual trust that must exist between for the coaching to be successful.
If it's determined that coaching is the right course of action for you, one-hour sessions will be scheduled every other week (unless you feel you need greater accountability and focus, and weekly sessions can be scheduled).
At the end of each session you will identify action(s) you are willing to take to get you further along your path towards health.
In between sessions, Megan will be sending you encouragement, inspirational quotes, reminders, helpful articles, etc. This is designed to keep you focused and motivated.
Also, Megan is always available by email to answer your questions, address concerns that come up, etc.
Change takes time. Developing and truly adopting new habits takes repetition and time so it will take several weeks to incorporate positive lifestyle changes. To get maximum benefit from Live Well! Health and Wellness Coaching, it is recommended you commit to at least 3 months of coaching.
Currently, health and wellness coaching is not covered by insurance (though Megan, in collaboration with Dr. Mary Louder, is working on that...).
When you become a Live Well! Health and Wellness Coaching client you receive a notebook with materials, a journal, a copy of Megan's award-winning book, The Courage Code, and a free subscription to the Courage Project newsletter.
Throughout the coaching you receive articles, an occasional book, etc. to keep you motivated and energized.
